Our Policies

Hospital services and kennel services such as patient visits, surgery, boarding and grooming are by appointment. We do take emergencies on an as-needed basis. Please call ahead of time so that we can be ready for you and your pet.
Supplies and prescriptions can be picked up any time during office hours. We work very hard to keep waiting times to a minimum and ahead to schedule your appointment helps us to serve you better.

Payment Policy

Services are to be paid for at the time of service. We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We try to provide estimates on all major services and we are happy to provide estimates when requested. We do our best to provide accurate estimates but sometimes circumstances dictate otherwise. We do our best to alert you to these changes as soon as possible.

Phone Numbers

We ask our clients to leave phone numbers where they can be reached during the day time especially when hospitalizing animals or boarding animals. This will allow us to update you n a timely manner should changes occur.

Licenses and Associations

We are under the jurisdiction of the North Carolina Veterinary Board. We are also members of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the North Carolina Companion Animal Academy.


I wish that we could answer e-mail questions and concerns from our clients. This would be extremely time-consuming as well as dangerous for your pets. There is nothing that can take the place of a good physical exam and history. However, we are working to use our web site as a source of information concerning our hospital and clinic as well as general information concerning your pets. Please feel free to let us know what topics or information you would like to see.


We strive to keep our fees as low and as fair as possible. On the other hand, we work to provide the best care possible for your pets. There are certain things which should not be optional such as pre-operative lab work and pain medication. Good patient care is essential. We work hard to provide the services which are important to your pets and do not add tests and procedures which are not necessary. We struggle constantly with setting fees. We like to work individually with our clients and their pets to provide those services and treatments which meet their needs. Our goal is not to sell services through fear or guilt but rather what works best for our clients and their pets.

Pet Insurance

Pet insurance for pets is a growing commodity. We have a lot of clients who have purchased pet insurance for their pets. The majority of people that have purchased pet insurance have been happy. Please understand that no insurance policy is complete. We encourage our clients to look closely at what is and is not covered and the limits on various conditions. Price can vary depending on whether you get wellness care in addition to illness coverage. Some policies will not cover geriatric patients or this type of care can be quite costly. At the present, most policies reimburse clients directly rather than pay providers such as hospitals. We are happy to provide itemized statements and fill out information to aid clients in filing their claims. At present, we do not charge for this type of service. Please remember that insurance is risk management and as such the insurance companies must make a profit to stay in business. Certainly insurance can help with costly procedures and treatments. Insurance is something that has worked well for some of our clients and not as well for others.
